Michael, Thank you so much for all your hardwork and research!
Your book gave me a deeper understanding of my dog's condition.
I was able to ask my vet intelligent questions and actually
understand the answers. My dog has gone from sad and lethargic,
to "smiles" and a wagging tail. Thank you so much!
HE ALSO HAS DIABETES, MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS HIS DIET. SINCE READING YOUR BOOK I'VE TRIED CHANGING HIS DIET AND HE REALLY DOES HAVE MORE ENERGY.
WE ARE PLAYING AGAIN AT NIGHT AND STARTING TO TAKE WALKS AGAIN. HE GETS SO EXCITED
WHEN I GET HIS FOOD READY TO FIX. BEFOE HE COULD CARE LESS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR HELPING .
WINSTON MEANS ALOT TO ME. HES A GREAT DOG.
After reading the book i wasn't satisfied with the treatment.he was put on anipril for 7 wks.no testing was done, the vet said if it didnt' relieve the excessive urinating& thirst the dose would be doubled.
it did seem to be a little better, but then one morning he started throwing up & he would'nt eat & he only would drink if i got him started by letting him lick it from my fingers. this was on a saturday the vet was closed& only the e.r. hospital was available,i hoped it was only an upset stomach .
we took him to the vet first thing monday ,he was given cerenia to calm his stomach &depo penicillin we were told to bring him back in 48 hrs. if not better ,tuesday i called back still the same & no bowel movement since friday. the vet said i needed to prepare myself that he was probally in the last stage of the disease.
well we are NOT GIVING UP THAT EASY111 , we took him to another vet he said it was more than likley his stomach another penicillin shot & b-12. NO TESTING WAS DONE the vat didn't think it was the cushing's medicine because it had been 7 wks. without side effects. i know this is a long drawed out story BUT WE LOVE OUR CHEECHO HE IS OUR FAMILY, at 3 am thursday april 3 2008 we took our boy to the e.r. hospital.
the vet there did tests cheecho's blood sugar was450,he liver was huge his colon was full the cbc showed other high numbers i can't remember .the vet said he was a cushing's dog but the anipryl wasn't working & he NEVER USED IT he was put in the hospital 3 & a half days .
I TOOK THE BOOK TO THE VET THAT PUT HIM IN THE HOSPITAL I ASKED HIM TO PLEASE LOOK THROUGH IT IF HE GOT THE CHANCE I KNOW HE' A BUSY MAN .
I KNOW HE KNOWS WE LOVE OUR CHEECHO HE SAW US PAY THE E.R. BILL $ 556.85. WE TOOK HIM HOME AT THAT TIME BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT EAT THE VAT HOPED HE WOULD EAT FOR US AT HOME.TODAY WAS THE 9 TH DAY NO FOOD & HE HAD TO HAVE A ENEMA.
WE TOOK HIM BACK AT 8 O'CLOCK SUNDAY NIGHT TO HAVE HIS BLOOD SUGAR CHECKED THE VET HAD THE BOOK IN HIS HAND !! I ASKED HIM WHAT HE THOUGTH?? HE SAID IT WAS IMPRESSIVE & ACCURATE. HE HAD STARTED CHEECHO ON LYSODREN 1/4 TAB. TWICE A DAY & VETSULIN 5 U TWICE ADAY.
I BELIEVE HE LEARNED SOMETHING FROM THE BOOK BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN MORE CONCERNED WITH HIS BLOOD SUGAR BEFORE GETTING IT UNDER CONTROL WOULD GET THE CUSHING'S UNDER CONTROL HE HAD SAID BEFORE I GAVE HIM THE BOOK TO READ BUT UNDERSTAND HE DIDN'T SAY HE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THE BOOK MAYBE THE LORD JUST BLESSED US WITH A KNOWLEGABLE VET AFTER SEEING 3 BEFORE HIM.
AND MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL!!!! OUR LITTLE CHEECHO IS MUCH BETTER !!!
WE ARE STILL HAVING TO GIVE HIM THE VETSULIN& THE LYSODREN 1/4 TWICE A DAY NOW JUST FOR 5 DAYS THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION IT GAVE US THE FACTS ,THE QUESTIONS TO ASK .
I WISH I WOULD HAVE HAD IT BEFORE THE 3RD VET
, THANKS DEBBIE M. CLARK& JOE&CHEECHO
His Dr. was great though, he to was checking out everything he could to make sure Beaglie got the right treatment. After several months on different food and meds. He to had read everything called different drs. I Ran across your book on the interenet.
Naturally I was skeptical but what the heck I though I needed to find out as much as I could so I knew what his dr. was talking about. I purchased it and read it that night. Somethings I had already found out, but this went one step further.
It helped me understand some of the things the Dr. had talking about and that helped me understand more. This book gave more suggestions and possible treatments and different avenues. What to watch for and different ways to approach and that this was something that could be treated. And to not give up. And his Dr. isn't giving up either.
Beaglie is doing better.
And one things he found was he did have high blood pressure and
meds and foods have helped bring it down which helped a lot of
other symptoms get better too. Thanks you for your book and
information
I could not afford to pay for the multiple tests of the kind of Cushing's disease that he had so when I read your book, I decided to try the diet treatment. I feed him two meals a day using the recipies in your book.
So far, I haven't taken him for a check-up but he seems to be doing fine; he sleeps after breakfast, plays around with Roscoe and Daisy (another chihuahua mix) when he gets up.
I take him for a short walk when I have time, but he also gets exercie running around with Roscoe. I hope to keep him healthy this way for as long as I can. Renee
Thanks for the valuable information!
John
Thank you.
